Automation
How to use: Create a new automation workflow by clicking "New Automation" or "Create Workflow" in the Automation module. Name your automation clearly describing what it does, like "Welcome New Customers" or "Follow-up Inactive Leads." Select a trigger that starts the automation: "Contact Created," "Tag Added," "Form Submitted," "Email Opened," "Purchase Made," or time-based triggers. Configure trigger conditions by adding filters—for example, trigger only when "Form = Contact Us Form" or "Product Category = Electronics." Add the first action that should happen when triggered by clicking "Add Action"—choose from sending emails, adding tags, creating tasks, sending notifications, or updating contact fields. Set delays between actions by adding a "Wait" step—wait 1 day, 3 days, 1 week, or until a specific time before the next action. Branch your workflow using conditional logic: "If contact opened email → Send follow-up; If not opened → Send reminder"—this creates different paths. Send automated emails by adding "Send Email" action and selecting an email template or creating new content—personalize with contact field variables. Add or remove tags automatically to track contact status and behavior throughout the automation journey. Create tasks for team members by adding "Create Task" action and assigning to the appropriate person—useful for requiring human touchpoints in automated workflows. Update contact properties automatically, such as changing "Status" field to "Active Customer" or adding lifecycle stage updates. Add contacts to other automations or segments as an action, creating cascading workflows for complex customer journeys. Set enrollment limits so contacts only go through the automation once, or allow re-enrollment for recurring workflows. Test your automation before activating by using the test mode—walk through the workflow with a sample contact to verify it works correctly. Activate the automation by toggling it "On"—from this point, contacts meeting trigger criteria automatically enter the workflow. Monitor automation performance through the analytics dashboard showing enrollment numbers, completion rates, and action success rates. Pause automations temporarily without deleting them by toggling to "Paused" status—useful during updates or when processes change. Edit active automations carefully as changes affect contacts currently in the workflow—consider duplicating and creating a new version instead. View individual contact progress through workflows by checking their profile timeline showing which automation steps they've completed.
