2. Understanding the Operation Workspace Structure

The Operation plugin is designed to help you and your team manage work efficiently. The workspace is made up of key components: Tasks, Projects, Cycles, and Teams. Understanding how these components work together is essential for staying organized and productive.

1. Tasks

Tasks are the smallest unit of work within the system.

  • Every task must belong to a team
  • Tasks include details like: title, status, task ID, assignee, due date, labels, project, cycle, and more
  • Tasks support different views, filters, and keyboard shortcuts

2. Projects

Projects help you group related tasks under a common goal or theme.

  • Projects are often used for large initiatives, campaigns, or internal processes
  • They allow you to manage tasks in a more structured and visual way
  • Projects can be organized using milestones to track major phases or deliverables

3. Cycles

Cycles are time-based work sprints that provide structure to your planning.

  • Typically used for bi-weekly, monthly, or custom timeframes
  • When a task is added to a cycle, it’s scheduled within that time period
  • Helps improve team focus, planning, and review
  • Each cycle includes a start and end date, target tasks, and completed outcomes

4. Teams

Teams represent a group of users managing a shared set of work.

  • All tasks, projects, and cycles are organized under teams
  • Users can be part of multiple teams
  • Each team has its own workflow, statuses, labels, and integrations
  • Teams can be public or private

5. Views & Filters

  • Different sections like Issues, My Tasks, Team Issues, Projects, and Cycles have their own views
  • Each view supports filters like status, assignee, priority, labels, and more
  • You can create custom views for quick access later

Key Considerations:

  • It's recommended to set up your team and cycles before creating tasks
  • Tasks are structured as: Task → Project → Cycle → Team
  • These layers help you visualize, manage, and scale your work more effectively
